Academics Without Borders (AWB) helps developing countries train its own experts.

Academics Without Borders fulfills its mission to assist the country’s development by sending volunteers to work on projects in the full range of the country’s post-secondary institutions.

Dr. Kindrachuk, an infectious disease expert, is an AWB volunteer. His first deployment in 2014 was to Liberia where he provided frontline support for the Ebola virus epidemic. In January 2020, he was at the University of Nairobi, providing emerging virus research training through a travel award (funded by donations) awarded by AWB. The corona virus forced his return to Canada.

Covid-19 has profoundly impacted AWB’s research efforts and training programs across the globe. However, its staff and volunteers continue to work with partners around the world, saving lives and building resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic through every means possible.
