Djavad Mowafaghian Presidential Scholar Award

UBC students are each uniquely talented, but not all have the same opportunities. They are the next generation of leaders ready to create lasting and meaningful change and tackle the challenges that affect us all. Supporting these promising students today—so they are equipped to build a better tomorrow—was the goal of the Blue & Gold Campaign for Students. And that is the principle that motivated the creation of the Djavad Mowafaghian Presidential Scholar Award.

Leaders of Tomorrow

The Djavad Mowafaghian Foundation operates on a simple belief: ensuring children are healthy and educated today will prepare them to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Providing Opportunities

The Blue & Gold Scholarship Campaign for Students aims to raise $100 million over three years to give promising students access to a life-changing education.

Unique Talents

UBC students are each uniquely talented, but not all have the same opportunities. Supporting students financially today will equip them to build a better tomorrow.

A Better Future

With the Djavad Mowafaghian Presidential Scholar Award, UBC will recruit the best and brightest students with the skills, talent and vision to make the world a better place.

Changing Their World

{
UBC is honoured to carry out Dr. Mowafaghian’s vision to ensure that our youth have access to the education and resources that they need to make an impact on the world. Thank you for changing their world so they can change ours.

Expanding Horizons

{
I watched my mom work really hard as a single parent. I didn’t get to see her a lot. I went to high school in Vancouver, but I wasn’t sure if university was even an option for me.  This award has given me the opportunity to go to school and pursue things I’m really passionate about.

Changing Lives

{
Receiving a scholarship is life-changing for a student. It was for me. It let me focus on my studies and immerse myself in student life. It was incredibly meaningful that people who’ve never met me believed in me. It motivated me to aim higher, to use my education in engineering to make a difference.
~ Erica Mason, a 5th-year student, civil engineering

Excellent Program

{
As a society, to get better and stronger in the future, we need to invest in children today.  Many of these students will be very successful leaders of the future. This is an excellent program.
