BC Children’s Hospital
Djavad Mowafaghian Wing
After touring BC Children’s Hospital, Djavad was determined to see the oncology unit transformed into a welcoming, healing environment. He gifted funds to pay for a 5,000 square metre redevelopment of the hospital’s oncology unit and adjacent outpatient clinics. At the time, it was the largest donation from an individual in the history of BC Children’s Hospital. The new wing is aptly named the Djavad Mowafaghian Wing.
Cheerful Environment
The renovated oncology unit and adjacent outpatient clinics provide a bright and cheerful environment for patients and their families and have helped to transform the care thousands of children receive every year. The Djavad Mowafaghian Wing was completed in 2007.

Sometimes real Superheroes live in the hearts of small children fighting big, big battles.
Other Initiatives
Through DMF, Djavad has supported other major initiatives at Children’s, including the construction of the Mental Health Building and modernizing numerous departments, clinics and labs.
Leading the way
BC Children’s Hospital is a leader in general and specialized pediatric services and is B.C.’s foremost teaching and research facility for child health.
Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Child Care
The centre has space for twelve infants, twelve toddlers and twenty-five preschoolers.
The Best in Care
Dr. Mowafaghian’s generosity is once again having a tremendous impact on B.C.’s children. The parents whose children attend this Centre can spend their working days secure in the knowledge that their children are well cared for, even as they provide the best in care to the sick and injured children of B.C.

EOS Machine
Space within the Children’s Hospital underwent extensive modifications to accommodate the installation of this high-tech X-ray machine which provides a more accurate full-body, three-dimensional image of a standing patient in a single scan. This dramatically reduces radiation exposure.
Orthopaedics
The Orthopaedics Department is one of the hospital’s busiest areas, and will ensure the orthopedic surgeons, nurses, radiologists and, most importantly, the children we serve will benefit from access to leading-edge technology ~ Teri Nicholas, president and CEO
Best Start in Life
