The Mowafaghian Foundation donated $3 million to the construction of the Beaty Biodiversity Museum at UBC.
The Beaty Biodiversity Museum is a natural history museum dedicated to deepening public understanding of biodiversity and the interconnectedness of life.
The museum brings UBC’s natural history collections into public view. The museum has over 500 exhibits, including dinosaur trackways, and contains over two million specimens, including fossils, mammals, reptiles, birds, insects, plants, and Canada’s largest blue whale skeleton. The museum’s two-storey glass gallery, which houses the 26-metre long blue whale skeleton, is named the Djavad Mowafaghian Atrium.
