On April 4, 2011 the University of British Columbia announced the largest ever donation to the UBC Faculty of Medicine. The Djavad Mowafaghian Foundation's donation is being used for a new Brain Research and Patient Care Facility. In honour of the donation, the facility will be named the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health.

In 2010, the Djavad Mowafaghian Foundation made a contribution towards biodiversity outreach and early childhood development research at the University of British Columbia. A portion of the donation was directed towards the funding of the Djavad Mowafaghian Atrium in the Beaty Biodiversity Museum at UBC, while the other portion was donated to the Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP).
